Inspiring Vision Care at Our Hospital

At our hospital, we are committed to providing exceptional eye care through our specialized and super specialty services. Our team of experts is dedicated to improving your vision and enhancing your quality of life.

Specialized Eye Services

  • Ophthalmology Specialists: We have three highly skilled ophthalmology specialists who excel in examining, diagnosing, and treating eye diseases through various methods, including medication and surgical intervention.
  • Optometrists: Our team includes four optometrists who specialize in examining the eye and visual system, diagnosing vision disorders, and prescribing eyeglasses, low vision aids, and vision therapy.

Super Specialty Service

Pediatric Ophthalmology: We have one super specialist who focuses on the examination, diagnosis, and treatment of eye diseases and vision disorders in children, utilizing both medication and surgical intervention.

Comprehensive Outpatient Services

Our clinics operate every weekday, ensuring continuous access to top-notch eye care.

Clinic Schedule:

  • Monday: Pediatric Clinic
  • Tuesday to Friday: Adult Clinic

Facilities:

  • 10 OPD rooms, including 5 for doctors, 3 for optometrists, and 2 for stationary diagnostic machines

We cater to an average of 70 to 110 outpatient consultations per day, providing personalized and effective eye care to each patient.

Inpatient Services

Our inpatient facilities are designed to offer comfort and specialized care:

Wards:

  • 6 beds for female patients and 6 beds for male patients, attended by specialized ophthalmology nurses
  • Numerous private rooms for VIP patients in our grade one ward

Specialized Eye Theater

  • Equipped with high-quality operating microscopes and staffed by specialized ophthalmology nurses for eye surgeries

Advanced Operative Services

We perform a range of major and minor eye procedures to restore and enhance vision:

Major Procedures:

  • Cataract surgery
  • Squint surgery
  • Eyelid reconstruction
  • Conjunctiva flap and graft
  • Cornea/sclera repair
  • Conjunctiva and eyelid mass excision
  • Laser PRP
  • BTR

Minor Procedures:

  • Intravitreal, subconjunctival, and retrobulbar injections
  • Cornea and conjunctiva foreign body removal
  • Eyelid cyst and dermoid excision
  • Chalazion excision
  • Incision and drainage of abscess
  • Probing and syringing

Community and Additional Services

We extend our eye care services to various districts in Mbeya City and the Songwe region, offering community-based eye examinations, diagnoses, and treatments. Our outreach includes prescribing spectacles and performing surgeries in several centers.

We also offer a variety of high-quality lenses (PGX, blue cut, progressive, bifocal) and stylish frames, along with frame repair services.

New Equipment in the Investigation Room

We are proud to announce the addition of the following advanced diagnostic equipment:

  1. Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT): For non-invasive retinal imaging.
  2. Automated Visual Field Machine: For detecting and diagnosing glaucoma and other conditions.
  3. A and B Scans: Ultrasound examinations for detailed eye evaluation.
  4. Autorefractor: For objective measurements of refractive error.
  5. Keratometer: Measures the curvature of the cornea to assess astigmatism.
  6. Fundus Camera: For photographing the rear of the eye to diagnose and monitor conditions.
